transmediale.10 extends its exhibitions until the Haiti benefit concert February 9, 2010.

transmediale.10 will take part  in the fundraising campaign for Haiti  initiated by EUNIC - the EU Association of National Cultural Institutes

As a result, the Berlin public has the chance to visit the festival exhibition and art works at the House of World Cultures through Monday, the 8th and Tuesday, the 9th of February. During the charity event, on the evening of the 9th of February, the exhibitions are open until 9.30 p.m.

Apart from the exhibition FUTURE OBSCURA, curated by Honor Harger, with works by artists including Julius von Bismarck, Ryoji Ikeda and Gebhard Sengmüller, works nominated for the transmediale Award 2010 including Buscando al Sr. Goodbar by the Canadian artist Michelle Teran can also be seen. Installations as part of the Futures Exchange festival architecure by raumlaborberlin, as well as the thousand-year composition Longplayer by Jem Finer and the interactive Tweetscreen by Jens Wunderling will continue through the extension.

With this campaign transmediale.10 wants to make a contribution to the reconstruction of free and independent media in Haiti. Proceeds collected through the exhibition will be donated to Haitian 'Radio Métropole', which was destroyed by the earthquake in January. Radio Métropole is one of the most significant sources of independent news, information and culture in Haiti, broadcasting again from a temporary facility in their garden. Supporting free and independent media in Haiti helps guarantees the broader reconstruction and relief effort in the country.

Herbstradio Berlin (99,1 MHz) and Resonance FM (104,4) currently broadcasting live from transmediale.10 will participate in the action and may include reportages from or about 'Radio Métropole' activities in the coming days.

The action is supported by our partners and sponsors incl. serve-uGeiertronic GmbHlaserfabrik showlaser GmbH, werkleitz and Instituto Cervantes.
